Okay, here’s my crackhead theory on what we’re looking at, you have to chop the top and bottom off an onion when you cook with it anyway, so these guys save that part of the onion, shape a cake to have the same shape as the missing body of the onion, then cover it in chocolate to hide the join.
So you can then show off your “chocolate dipped unpeeled onion” to people, and then take a big bite of the cake lower half to gross people out.
